My love for photography grew from a hatred to do dishes.
As a freshman in collge I was determined not to wash dishes as my work study to offset my tuition. I found out that the Public Relations department had an opening. I borrowed a camera and went to see what it was all about. My first few assignments were archetectural shots around campus.
I was not that impressed with my new position until I began to learn the secrets of the dark room, and there my love for the photograph began to develop. I am still a huge fan of the timeless classic black and whites, like the ones that appeared on paper for me my fist day in the magical dark room.
During the next couple of years I gave up the stills and concentrated on the action. I was on the sidelines of every Ravens home game, watching through the lens. From football, soccer, baseball, softball, there was no bigger thrill than getting that one shot that was going to be on next years' sports' calendar. I also worked for the local newspaper under the Friday Night Lights. I still remember the first time I was paid for a published High School football game photo.
Since that time my view through the lens has been honed at a little different angle. I have been concentrating on capturing the lives of children from pre steps to fantasic High School finishes. To me it doesn't matter matter if it is a 240 pound college All American, a 40 pound future FIFA star, or a kid simply playing at the park and enjoying nature. To me it is about stopping time, stepping back, and always being able to relive the determination, the joy, the pain, the emotion that my subject was feeling at that fraction of a second. Many cultures in the world are superstious about having thier photo taken, fearing it is stealing their soul. I don't want to steal it, I just want to capture all that it entails and remember it forever.
I would Love the opportunity to stop time for you. To give you the opportunity to always have the God given gift that goes by so fast. The gift of the perfect 1/1000 of a second.
Thanks for stopping by
